Sab kujh chete auna ae

Akkhan ‘ch luki baithi ik barsat ae

Haye ajj saadi aakhri mulaqat ae

Ho aun ge nave vapari wafa de

New purveyors of affection, or 'merchants of loyalty', will emerge in due course,

Mull chehreyan de paine aa

where worth will be exclusively assigned to attractive countenances.

Sohne chehre takde mathe kinna chir kalle rehne aa

How long can one expect to endure solitude when constantly encircled by appealing visages?

Phir ton ohi vaade laare phir ton ohi tuttde taare

The familiar cycle of assurances and unmet expectations will reappear, alongside the symbolic 'falling stars' representing fleeting wishes,

Phir ton ohi coffeyan chaahan

and those customary social engagements over coffee and chai (tea), typical in Punjabi culture,

Phir ton haye bahan vich bahan

with intertwined arms, signifying renewed intimacy.

Din chadhda dhal reha ae ahi kujh chalda rehna ae
