The Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal is the full name of what is commonly referred to as the “SYL Canal,” which is also the meaning of the acronym SYL. In order to connect the Sutlej and Yamuna rivers, India is building the 214-kilometre Satluj Yamuna Link Canal, or SYL, as it is more commonly known. The proposal ran into problems, though, and was sent to the Indian Supreme Court. It was explained as the sharing of river water between Punjab and Haryana.
